Novel set in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1975, at the moment the Khmer Rouge invade the city. A homosexual journalist is visiting his boyhood friend, now an emergency doctor at a Phnom Penh hospital. He is in a bad way: his father, a man he loved dearly, has just died and he’s on the verge of a love he once thought unattainable. He hardly dares speak about it in the chaos and insanity of the war.
